Here’s a story straight out of the movies. Arnel Pineda was the lead singer of Zoo Band – a cover band from the Philippines. He gained a small cult following on YouTube for his Journey covers. Pineda sounds incredibly like Journey’s famous singer, Steve Perry. Close your eyes, and I’ll bet you can’t tell the difference.

In late 2007, Neal Schon – the real Journey’s lead guitarist – was searching for a singer. He wanted a newcomer. Searching YouTube for talent, he stumbled on this video. He contacted Pineda for an audition. Pineda thought it was a hoax and ignored the message. But a friend convinced him to contact Schon. As of December 2007, Arnel Pineda is Journey’s new lead singer!
