Making commercial spaceflight a reality
3/5/08Virgin Galactic is the brainchild of billionaire Sir Richard Branson. It plans to be the world’s first spaceline, taking passengers into space.
This isn’t just a pipedream. The planes are based on the design of SpaceShipOne, the X Prize winner. Branson was a major backer of SpaceShipOne, the first privately funded manned spacecraft.
Passenger space flights could start as early as 2009. For $200,000, you can book a seat on an early flight. This video is computer-generated. It shows what a Virgin Galactic flight could be like.
