The Newport Folk Festival was an epicenter of folk music in the early1960s. Bob Dylan was a headlining act for several years. This video was taken at the 1964 festival. In it, Dylan plays Mr. Tambourine Man.

Dylan was a favorite of the Newport Folk Festival for several years. But in 1965, he played his famous, or infamous, electric set. It was the first time he had played an electric guitar live. He was actually booed. It marked his change from folk music to rock and roll.

Well, everything changes, possibly nothing more than music. And 1964 was a long time ago. Dylan probably didn’t like being locked into folk music. But if you remember ‘64, this will sound familiar. If you don’t, listen to it anyway. Many people considered Dylan the voice of a generation.
