Mike’s Flying Bike
5/24/08Mike has created a great geek exercise machine. He’s coupled a stationary mountain bike and Google Earth’s flight simulator. By riding his bike, he can fly anywhere in the world.
OK, slow down. There’s a flight simulator in Google Earth? Yep. While using Google Earth, simply hold down Ctrl+Alt+A (or Command+Alt+A on a Mac). You get your choice of two airplanes. And then, off you go!
Mike was able to rig his mountain bike with airplane-like controls. And then he linked it to his computer and Google Earth . He used a small programmable device called a SunSPOT. It can be programmed to do almost anything.
By the way, you can download Google Earth by clicking here. It’s free.
