I’ve featured some strange pets in my Video of the Day. Remember the hippo and the lion? Well, this pet is one you may recognize. Bart the bear was a giant grizzly bear and a movie star. He appeared in films like The Bear, Legends of the Fall and The Edge.

But Bart’s biggest impact wasn’t on Hollywood. It was on his trainers. Doug and Lynne Seus adopted Bart from a zoo in 1977. They formed an incredible bond. Doug and Bart often wrestled and played like children. Sadly, Bart died of cancer in 2000. In his memory, the Seuses founded Vital Ground. It’s an organization dedicated to protecting grizzly bear habitat.

But the Seuses weren’t done with bears. They are now raising two new grizzly bears. Their names are Little Bart and Honey Bump. Doug has befriended and trained these bears as well. It’s amazing to see them at work and play.
