This Video of the Day features an unusual artist–Esref Armagan. He is a painter from Turkey. He has many fans, including scientists. Especially scientists.

They want to know how Armagan can paint so well. You see, Armagan was born without eyes.

Armagan has never been able to see. He’s never seen the beautiful landscapes he paints with his hands. While a blind painter is extraordinary, Armagan is more than that. The composition of his paintings has scientists excited.

Armagan paints with a high level of perspective. Objects become smaller as they recede into the background. Sighted painters struggle to reproduce perspective correctly. It was thought to be impossible without sight. Armagan is changing our understanding of vision.

You’d think blind painters were rare. But I featured another one in a past video.
