Computer animation is getting better all the time. Computer-generated people look almost real. But we can still usually tell what’s real and what isn’t.
Computer animation has some way to go before completely fooling us. But this Video shows that animators are getting close.
Image Metrics is a facial animation studio. It animates faces for film and video games. In this video, a woman, Emily, explains the company’s latest technology. She uses a lot of industry-specific jargon. It’s a little hard to follow. But what she says isn’t the point.

Emily isn’t really there. The character’s face is computer generated. She looks real, doesn’t she? I watched this several times. The real Emily appears at 1:30. Her computer-generated face is a near match. This is truly amazing.
