Video of the Day

The Miniature Earth

9/10/08

This great YouTube video will really make you think. But first, some questions. How many people worldwide live below the poverty line? How ubiquitous is access to the Internet? What percentage of the world’s population can’t read?

You can find statistics on all of those questions and more. But the numbers can be hard to conceptualize. The world, after all, has more then 6.5 billion people. That number makes any statistic too big to really understand.

But what if we shrunk the population? What if we apply those unwieldy statistics to 100 people? You can easily visualize those figures. So, what would our world look like with a population of 100?
