Singing scanner

You’ll meet a cool piece of desktop hardware in this YouTube video. Your gear may have some hidden talents. Take this HP scanner for example. It can easily scan any document you throw at it. But it can also carry a tune.
That’s right. This is a singing scanner. It can play Ode to Joy from Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9. It does this by varying the speed of its motor. Different speeds produce different tones. I think it’s playing a little flat!
This was actually a test mode in this particular model of HP scanner. End users were never meant to find it. Technicians would know how to make it play the song. If it couldn’t, that would pinpoint a possible problem.
