Stories from the Ironman
10/11/08This YouTube video will inspire you to go work out. The Ironman World Championship is the most grueling triathlon in the world. It takes place every October in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.
It began as a challenge between Navy Seals. The island once hosted three different endurance events. Someone figured out you could run them all back to back. The Ironman features a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike ride and a 26.2-mile run.
The Ironman has a physically challenged category in which disabled athletes compete. And they must meet the same cutoff times as able-bodied athletes. In this video you’ll meet several amazing disabled athletes.
