This YouTube video features an up and coming sport. Imagine combining fast-paced racing with rocket-powered airplanes. Sounds like something out of a video game. But it’s real. It’s the Rocket Racing League.

This is an ambitious project headed by two visionaries. One is a champion Indy Racing League team owner. The other is the aerospace pioneer behind the X Prize.

The RRL won’t officially launch until 2010. But test races are already under way. Is this the next big thing? Or will it flop? You decide.
