Saving for a pool

This CBS video features a determined woman. Maisie DeVore loves the children in her hometown of Eskridge, KS. But she realized they didn’t have enough to do. The only kid-friendly facility in town was a baseball field.

So, DeVore decided to build the town a swimming pool. However, swimming pools aren’t cheap. It would cost nearly $170,000. She decided to raise the money by collecting and recycling aluminum cans.

Everyone thought she was crazy. She searched the streets and garbage cans of Eskridge. She crushed and sold each can herself. And she saved every penny made. She did this every day for 30 years. Did her dream pool get built? Watch and find out.
