Auto safety 50 years later
10/6/09There is something about the quality of older products. They just don’t make them like they used to. Many people feel this way about cars. Today’s cars have tiny bodies and plastic fenders. How can they compete with those classic hunks of Detroit steel?
When it comes to safety, newer is definitely better. This video comes from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The IIHS conducts crash tests and rates vehicle safety. It conducted this test for its 50th anniversary. It pits a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu against a 1959 Chevrolet Bel Air. Auto safety has come a long way in the last 50 years.
